2. Can we customize the pace?

This is actually the heart of what we do. Unlike group tours with fixed schedules, every China Highlights trip is built around your pace.

Some couples want to start late and linger over breakfast. Others prefer an early start to beat the crowds, then a long afternoon rest. Some days you might want to pack in the sights; other days, just sit in a tea house and watch the world go by. It’s all possible — because it’s your trip.

3. Do you offer vegetarian meals?

Absolutely, and we take it seriously. Chinese cuisine is incredibly vegetarian-friendly once you know where to look, and our guides do.

Before your trip, we note your dietary preferences. On the ground, your guide helps you order at restaurants (avoiding hidden fish sauce or meat broths). We choose restaurants with good vegetarian options. In smaller towns, we call ahead to ensure they can accommodate. We also accommodate vegan, gluten-free, halal, and food allergies (please specify when booking).

4. What if we need medical help?

Health concerns are natural, especially when traveling in a new country. Foreigners can access medical care very easily in China, especially in major cities like Beijing and Shanghai, where international hospitals with English-speaking staff are readily available.

Your guide knows the nearest hospitals and clinics in every city. For minor issues, we can help with pharmacies (and translate what you need). For anything serious, we accompany you to the hospital and stay until you’re settled. Our 24/7 emergency line is always available in English.
