What moved me most about this trip were the people and the culture here. Walking through the streets of the local small towns, with their colorful houses and laid-back atmosphere, felt like stepping into a world of vibrant colors; the ethnic minority cultures I encountered also left a deep impression on me. I realized just how vast China is—every place has its own story. The locals are incredibly warm and welcoming. Even though we couldn’t communicate in the same language, a smile was the best form of communication.

The food is something I’ll never forget. The grilled lamb skewers were incredibly aromatic, the hand-mixed rice had perfectly separate grains, and there were all kinds of noodle dishes—rich in flavor but not at all overwhelming. The biggest surprise was the fruit: watermelon, Hami melon, and grapes were all sweet and juicy, and I felt so happy eating them every day.

Here are a few tips for friends planning to visit Xinjiang: In the fall, Xinjiang can get quite cool in the mornings and evenings, so be sure to pack a jacket; the sun is intense, so don’t forget sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses; and since the drives are long, it’s a good idea to bring some snacks. Don’t worry about communication—basic English plus a translation app will suffice, and the locals are more than happy to help.

This trip far exceeded my expectations. I’ll recommend visitcnvoyage to more of my Thai friends, and I’ll definitely be back—and I’ll definitely choose this travel agency again.
